About Us

The Kibale Forest Coalition for Conservation Education is a Community Based Organization (CBO) in Uganda, East Africa. KFCCE was founded in 2009 as an umbrella through which member organizations - listed at left - collaborate to advance conservation in and around Kibale National Park (KNP) in rural western Uganda. Kibale Forest has the highest density of primates in the world. These beings, and their forest, are increasingly endangered.

Vision

KFCCE will be the leader for effective integrated collaborative efforts to conserve Uganda's natural resources and biodiversity.

Mission Statement

To unite organizations that operate within 5 km of Kibale National Park to conserve its ecosystem.

Objectives

1. To provide a network for organizations, which promote school based environmental education and which engage pupils in practical conservation practices.
2. To coordinate library access, health networks, infrastructure support, and materials for schools and communities.

Meetings and Communications

The KFCCE annual general meeting is held each January or February, and a committee meeting is held each summer. Here are the minutes of the most recent general meeting (PDF, 1.1mb) at MUBFS on January 16, 2010. John Tinka of UNITE/KAFRED organized the steering committee meeting that was held in August 2010 at MUBFS. Member organizations will keep each other informed and involved through this website and other methods of communication.
